So many wedding things done and yet... so little blogging!

Oh man...

I meant to make separate posts for like everything... I really did. Um. Oops. Time just slipped away, what can I say? I have this backlog of posts just waiting there but I'm beginning to think given the time frame, each individual post isn't going to be super interesting. That being said, I do want to keep things updated and a few bigger posts it shall be. I'm thinking one for the facility and details regarding that and one for the rest of the vendors. Cool? Cool!

Decor on a budget!

Alright... it's been a while... I guess every post is just going to start out this way.

Sadly, I actually have like 4 blog posts written up and ready to go but I have been awfullll about getting all of the pictures set for them! I have a HUGE before an after coming but for now, I'll just do a little post on a few things we did over the weekend!

Let me start by saying, decor in my house has been kind of an uphill battle. I have a fiance who hates all things that aren't "useful" while i just want to buy Pier 1 and put it in my living room. This faces us with a challenge, but not one I am willing to give up on! This weekend we really tackled our front entryway which was previously an empty space and is now warm, inviting, and even has some use!

Well this view doesn't show much...

One Dress to Rule Them All

I'm not going to make any excuses. I'm really just not. I've been so, so bad with this blog when I had planned to be SO good about it. Between the house, the wedding, leaving my old job, and starting a new one... things have been absolutely nut. Again though, no excuses!

Let's just hop right back on the horse and get right back into it, shall we?

I found it. THE one. THE dress. I couldn't believe it.

I did, I did!!!

We put THINGS on our walls!

Alright, so maybe this isn't THAT big of a deal but I am pretty excited.

As we've been doing this and that all over the house I can't help but feel that nothing is FINISHED. There are little "projects" that need to be done and tweaked everywhere and sometimes it can become a bit... unsettling. Obviously this is something that comes with being a new homeowner but dammit, I want something to feel homey! I want this place to feel like our home and not just our house. It was time to set some of Mr's home improvement projects aside and at least get to a little bit of decor.

So yay! Now we have some things on our walls!

We got this lovely little piece from my mom for Christmas. We hung it in our entryway on the wall in front of our stairs.

On my Brief Hiatus

Well... that was quick. Started a blog, things got busy, and then I got SICK and thus went away all that regular posting I had started! Whoops!

Sorry about that! The craziness never stops but the cold from hell seems to be making its way away from me (good riddance) and it is time to get back on schedule!

Upcoming posts include some before/after photos on all of our house progress, some new things we have added here and there, and the starting of WEDDING PLANNING (dun dun dunnnnnn). I am getting much better about taking photos as things progress so I may actually have some real house photos. Hurray!

Anyway, that's the update. Sorry for the lack of posting. I was doing so well! I plan on getting back to 2-3 posts a week very soon. Thanks for your patience!

Anniversary Gift Reveal! (And a trip down memory lane)

The Mr. really outdid himself this year.

I mean he really, really outdid himself this year.

On Our Anniversary

So there has been some sap in these first few entries so I think I'll spare everyone a lot that... I however want to acknowledge that today is the anniversary of the day Mr. and I decided to become "official".

"I do!", "Me too!"

Dating a year and a half, living together a year, in the process of buying a home... seems there was a pretty obvious next step there and it was one we were being asked about constantly. "Where's the ring??", "So whens the big date??" and even "Why is he going to buy the cow when he can get the milk for free??" were common among the questions I received once it was out in the open that we were buying our house. While I did find these questions to be a bit prying... I couldn't help but admit to myself that I was wondering the same thing.

A New Home

We get it all the time. 24? Engaged? You bought a house? Aren't you guys a little... young?

I don't think we've ever followed what has become the "societal norm" when it comes to how we run our lives let alone how we've gone the course of our relationship. All of the little details aside when it came to the time where we decided we were going to look at houses we had been living together a year, we weren't engaged yet but we knew it was coming, we both had stable "adult" jobs, and we were paying nearly the amount of a mortgage into our apartment every month anyway. The Mr. has always wanted to own real estate and with the economy where it is and mortgage rates where they are it just seemed like an obvious next step... so step we did!

The One Where They Meet

It feels natural in this new blog since it not only centers around my life, but our life to start off with a little "Story of Us" if you will! I will try to keep it from becoming a novel, but no promises!

Jes Growing Up

I came up with the idea for this blog a while ago. I guess it's time to follow through with it!

The plan for for this blog was to use it to document my life as The Mr. and I begin our journey as an engaged and newly home-owning couple. I think I'll continue with that, but the plan is to ultimately make this blog public to any friends and family that may wish to keep up with us. Hurrah!
