One Dress to Rule Them All

I'm not going to make any excuses. I'm really just not. I've been so, so bad with this blog when I had planned to be SO good about it. Between the house, the wedding, leaving my old job, and starting a new one... things have been absolutely nut. Again though, no excuses!

Let's just hop right back on the horse and get right back into it, shall we?

I found it. THE one. THE dress. I couldn't believe it.

I did, I did!!!
I had been absolutely dreading shopping for the dress. Being a plus size bride is not easy. Every sample size is a size 10 and typically sizes run 2-3x smaller than regular street wear. Needless to say, I would not fit into that sample size at 99% of bridal shops.

Then came my savior! One designer to rule them all! One who caters to brides of every size and shape, and within a price range I can actually deem "affordable". Ah, the ever popular Alfred Angelo. The maker of those famous Disney inspired dresses (among other ones)! With the wedding only ten months away, it was time to bite the bullet. I made an appointment, gathered my posse, and off we went!

I will say, even though I tried to keep a level head about everything, I was insanely stressed out. I dreaded having someone dress me, take my measurements, and parade me in front of my mom and sister for all to judge. I went into my appointment picturing a disastrous "Say Yes to the Dress" scenario. Yeesh. I was absolutely shocked to find though, it wasn't stressful at all! It was actually pretty fun! This was very much in part to having a very nice, helpful salesperson who completely catered to my needs and in part due to a very supportive mother and sister. I am very thankful.

I must have tried on 15 different dresses throughout the roughly two hour appointment and I actually didn't hate most of them! I obviously will not be showing which dress I picked here, but I will show a picture of myself in my second choice. Call it a teaser.

Okay, no face... but you get the idea!
This is the Cinderella dress. I loved it! It made me feel like a princess and even had the option to have the skirt be made with this awesome glittery material. Honestly, I almost picked this one... until I found mine. I had the moment as soon as I walked out the door. My mom and my sister both made "the face" and I ever got a little teary eyed. Me. Being sappy over a dress. Who knew??

It is absolutely perfect... and you'll all just have to wait and see ;)

*** It is also worth noting, I became an aunt this week!!! My stepbrother and his girlfriend welcomed a beautiful baby girl into the world yesterday and I am so happy for them. She is absolutely beautiful and I am whole heartedly looking forward to spoiling her!
