"I do!", "Me too!"

Dating a year and a half, living together a year, in the process of buying a home... seems there was a pretty obvious next step there and it was one we were being asked about constantly. "Where's the ring??", "So whens the big date??" and even "Why is he going to buy the cow when he can get the milk for free??" were common among the questions I received once it was out in the open that we were buying our house. While I did find these questions to be a bit prying... I couldn't help but admit to myself that I was wondering the same thing.
Just joking! Image from cartoonstock.com

Luckily, I didn't need to wonder too long! Turns out, the Mr. and I were both on the same page. We had been having discussions for a while about our future and already knew that marriage was absolutely in our picture, but the timeline was a little fuzzy. The question of our ages, our current financial situation, and our current lifestyle all came into play when really getting into the nitty-gritty of whether or not we were ready for this. Honestly though, when it all comes down to it, we were really already there. As said a billion times already, we'd been living together over a year at this point so we already knew that was possible. We knew that we could handle finances together (and I hope so considering we had already started the process of buying the house...). And our ages... honestly, I'll probably write up another post in more depth about this at some point but when it all comes down to it I don't really find anything wrong or even different between marrying at 24 or marrying at 34. Its about compatibility, communication, trust, and love... all of which the Mr. and I share in high abundance!

So with that all excitedly settled, The Mr. and I started looking at rings so that I could "point out" which styles I liked the best. I am SO happy that we did it this way. I've read many-a-story about women who received their rings and absolutely HATED them. Why spend so much money(and I mean SO much money) on something they may or may not like? Nope. Nope. Nope. I ended up finding lots of styles I liked and showed a bunch of them to him happy as a clam to get any of them until I found it. The one. The ring of my dreams. I sent him a link saying something like that would be perfect ever-so-casually... and I didn't hear a thing after that. It was time to wait.

Luckily, I did not have to wait long! Not only did the Mr. buy my dream ring right away... he actually gave it an upgrade! That ring only spent 3 days in his pocket before he whisked me away to the lovely Mill On the River in South Windsor, CT and proposed in the most personal and sweet way I could have asked for... even if he didn't get down on one knee(which I tease him for every so often)! We're actually going back there this weekend to celebrate our anniversary!

I am so excited for our wedding in May of 2014... but I am so much more excited for our marriage. To be a real family and to share the rest of our lives together. I've never been so sure that someone is so positively right for me in every way possible and I know that together we will make a life that is exactly what both of us have always wanted. We've grown together. We're growing together. We will continue to do so for the rest of our lives and I could not be more happy.

If you're reading please let me know!! I'd love to hear your comments =]

  1. Hey Girl! Glad you are blogging again. I have one too, it's mostly about horseback riding though. :)

I completely agree about the marriage and age thing. I find it's mostly older people that are get all nervous when I bring up I'll be 24 when I get married. If you guys are ready, then you are.

Finally, yay Mill on the River! I went to a wedding and a birthday party there! So pretty!

    Good luck with everything!
